About the Role | Mō te tūnga
We’re looking for more Polishers to join our talented team. If you have worked with stainless steel in the past, know your way around grinding, sanding and polishing equipment, and have strong attention to detail then we're keen to hear from you. Rates vary between $29-$33 per hour based on demonstrated skills and expeirence. Bonus points if you have worked to a food grade finish!

Longveld’s workshop environment is considered a safety sensitive area due to the risks inherent in trade activities. As a member of the trade team you must follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and only carry out the listed trade activities, where required, once you have been assessed as suitably trained by your supervisor.
- Polish items as required using appropriate machinery and to appropriate finishes
- Undertake polishing and cleaning using acid baths
- Undertake minor weld repairs identified as part of polishing function
- Maintain adequate polishing consumables (mops, grinding stones etc)
- Provide guidance to welders on welding profiles required to achieve required finishes
- Provide guidance to the team concerning polishing times on jobs
- Carry out confined space work
- Operate cranes
- Drive forklift
- Carry out quality processes and checks
- Assess and plan work according to timeframes
- Complete job and stock control paperwork and processes for jobs
- Keep rework and waste to a minimum
- Ensure personal tools are maintained and kept in good working order
- Two years’ experience in polishing stainless-steel components
- Ability to TIG weld
- Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving
- Has a positive, can-do attitude
- Possesses strong attention to detail
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Experience in polishing to food grade standard (preferable)
- A proactive, positive attitude to health and safety
- The right to live and work in New Zealand
Desired
- Trained in Confined Spaces and Gas Detection
- Holds a US 3800 qualification to operate a pendant controlled overhead crane
